What I’m Doing Now

Founder

It’s funny. I found a bucket list I’d made as a teenager. Turns out, I’ve accidentally completed everything on that list through the years.

Apart from one. Starting a business. And the timing was perfect for that. So I founded Confidence Through Languages. It’s about empowering yourself through language learning, which is exactly what I’ve done through the years, mostly subconsciously. As a woman, I’m particularly sensitive about what social conditioning has done to me and my loved ones. I want to help everyone break the cycle and discover the power that was always there.

Oh, by the way, if you’re into languages or want to learn a language and have fun in the process, check out my book.

Marriage

I never thought I’d find the love of my life, let alone get married. But it happened! And my marriage has improved my life in every way imaginable. I wake up every morning with a smile, feeling thankful and eager to live my life. It’s incredible.

It has also brought big changes. One of them is that I now live in Switzerland, my wife’s country. It was something I’d never planned, but I absolutely love it here and it’s exactly what I needed. I’m in love with Swiss German, too!

The Return of Hooping

It’s been 20 years, and I can still smell the fresh paint…

Aside from three or four games with friends during university, I hadn’t played basketball for 20 years. Now, at 33, I’m happily back, training every day and enjoying every second.

The reason? It’s a sport I can play alone—just me and the rim, sharing magical and, occasionally, embarrassing moments. I don’t need to ask anyone to join my routine. I can go out and play whenever I want, which is at least one hour per day.

I’ve changed my shooting form, worked on my footwork, and done all sorts of things I haven’t done in years. And, of course, I sometimes have that thought I used to have as a kid: “If I miss this shot, the world will come crashing down.”

It took just one training session for me to fall back in love with the game. Since it also helps me stay fit and lose weight, I see no reason to stop.

If you’re reading this, here’s a call to action: rediscover a sport you used to play as a kid. What made you stop? Can you pick it up again? Give it a try.
